What Are Core Sliders?
Core sliders are small disk-like exercise accessories that add an extra level of challenge and diversity to your standard home workout routine. They feature a smooth slide side and a padded foam surface on the other. At Amp Wellbeing, we also offer beautiful bamboo discs for an eco-friendly alternative.
They can be used on all sorts of floors: yoga mats, carpet, hardwood, and tile. They allow for full range of motion in exercises and are a valuable addition to your fitness toolkit at any level.
Key Benefits of Core Sliders
- Increased Core Strength: Core sliders activate your core throughout the full range of motion.
- Stability and Balance: They require constant engagement with stabilising muscles, enhancing balance and coordination.
- Gentle on the Joints: Smooth, gliding movements reduce impact compared to many traditional exercises.
- Versatility: Sliders can be used for upper body, lower body, and core exercises.
Core Slider Exercises to Try
Mountain Climbers
Start in a high plank position with a slider under each foot. Drive one knee towards your chest while the other leg extends. Alternate quickly for a cardio and core challenge.
Reverse Lunge
Stand with a slider under one foot. Slide that foot back into a deep lunge, keeping your front knee above your ankle. Slide back to standing. Excellent for the glutes, quads, and core stability.
Pike
Start in a high plank with sliders under both feet. Keeping your legs straight, slide your feet towards your hands, lifting your hips into a pike position. Slide back to plank. A brilliant abdominal challenge.
Lateral Lunge
Stand with a slider under one foot. Slide that foot out to the side as you bend the opposite knee into a squat. Slide back to standing. Targets inner thighs, glutes, and lateral hip stabilisers.
